In September 2007, the co-founders of Blighty recruitment ltd trialed an innovative new concept in response to clients requests to provide a total English experience for their employees. Named 'BlightyTown', the trial concept was a success and we are happy to announce more BlightyTown dates have been added.
In September we transformed a beautiful English countryside hotel into a tiny but bustling melting pot where the only language being used was English. We "filled" the hotel with 20 English speakers from all over the world (the UK, the US, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Canada) and brought in 20 foreign nationals (some living in the UK and some living abroad). After a week together the English speakers departed full of great memories and newly formed relationships and the foreign nationals left being four times more fluent and confident with the English language. The initial project, in fact, was so successful that some of the members have signed up to return again to BlightyTown.
Since our initial project, we have planned more programmes and attracted more and more clients and interest. Gradually we are transforming this innovative cultural and linguistic experience into an ongoing venture, thereby establishing a true enclave for English improvement deep in the English countryside.
Welsh sheep farmers, Canadian rocky police, Australian Gold miners and American pro football players mix, converse and eat with French engineers, Japanese sushi chefs, Swiss bankers and Spanish diplomats.
